THE BEST KENNEL OF POINTING DOGS, FLUSHING DOGS AND HOUNDS

Franco Turtoro has made hunting, especially with pointing dogs and, the training and sale of hunting dogs, the main passion of his life.

Today he has more than 40 years of hunting experience practiced all over the world.

He believes he can evaluate in a young dog of 10-12 months, starting it with experience in hunting, whether it will become an excellent hunting companion in the future.

He carries out the training of pointing dogs, flushing dogs and hounds. He also takes care of the training and sale of hare, rabbit and wild boar hunting dogs.

He uses the “Positive Reinforcement” method: in about one month in contact with natural game it will form the young dog with point, backing and retrieve.

After the first training step, it will be possible to specialize the dog with trips to Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Crimea.

It is possible to re-train and correct the behaviour of dogs that are too independent and without connection with the hunter. After careful consideration, we can resolve problems on dogs that have been traumatised by unprofessional training.

The training of hunting dogs varies depending on the individual. Each dog is a unique specimen with a more or less mature and determined character that develops the characteristics of the breed it belongs to in a different way when in contact with the first game.

The first game is essential for building reflexes and reactions in young pupils and puppies. We prefer to train puppies on wild animals because their behaviour in nature is completely different.

We always let puppies tackle the terrain and the game alone. When the dog can tackle the terrain and point with determination and confidence, we prepare it for backing, always in the company of an adult and well-trained dog.

TRAINING AND SALE OF HARE HUNTING DOGS

To train hare hunting dogs we use three large fenced areas where only hares are present, with woodland terrain partially covered by vegetation.

The young dog is encouraged to scour and scout the terrain always individually. This increases daily the tracking skills and the desire to find the hare following its scent and, as a consequence, the visual chase that gratifies the dog.

When it is confident on the hare’s track, giving voice and trying to flush it, after a chase we will shoot the hare, rewarding the dog’s action.

As soon as it has gained confidence and handles the hare perfectly, it will be trained not to chase the roe deer, facing an enclosure where the unwanted animals are present.

BOAR DOGS TRAINING AND SALE

For the boar hounds the training is carried out in an enclosure where small wild boars are present. These entice the young dog to the chase and to bark at bay without the danger of being injured by the boars.

When the dogs are mature, obedient to commands and manageable by the trainer, they will face real hunting in the reserve where they will be gratified by the culling of the boar.
